Ever After

When you get to the end of a fairytale and you hear "...and they all lived happily ever after." what do you imagine happens?

Last Week's Alternative Friday Five

From the altfriday5:

1. List 5 things which are basic common knowledge in your culture, which people outside are unfamiliar with. This is not about obscurity, but something everyday to you, that others go "bzuh?" at.
-By the most strict definition of the term, a Hispanic *IS* a white person.
-Oh, and chile when it's not capitalized is not a country but a very tasty food!
-Nuclear research does not mean building atomic bombs.
-The cross is not an important symbol to us, even though we're Catholic.
-Uhm, last is... uuuh. A labby is not a dog, but a stereotype.

2. What was the last book you read that was written by a person who is a different race than you? Do you seek out books written by people of other races? Why? Why not?
Uhm, I read about half of "A Thousand Setting Suns" but it was just too terrible to finish. I actually read mostly books from people of other races, Or, at least it's hard to tell if people are halfy's like me!

3. What did you eat at dinner last night? Would you call it ethnic food? Why?
LOL. No. We had chicken caesar salads, cheese, and pears.

4. Has your gender presentation changed over the last 5 years? Has this change/lack of change been a deliberate choice on your part?
Huh? I dunno. I am still a girl, and I still look like a girl. What are they talking about?

5. Do you discuss race and racism in your livejournal/blog or in person? Why have you made that choice?
I really don't run into it that much. It's never been a big problem for me or anyone I have ever been around. Plus, I get annoyed when people say "Oh my goodness! That girl was a total b**** to me, just because I am _______." Uh no, I am pretty sure there are people out there who are just b****es and jerks.

T-Shirt Quilt

I have been threatening for quite a while to do a t-shirt quilt and now I have the gumption to do it. Just one problem... I have to research it. When thinking about making straight lines from point A to point B I started thinking about where Aaron's stringy chalk line thinger is. Hrm... I wonder if the chalk would stain the fabric. (Can you tell I was a tomboy growing up?) Oh well, off to figure out what a normal quilter uses to make their lines.

Where is my balance?

Yesterday I had a bowl of cereal, a hamburger kids meal, a pear, string cheese, and a breakfast sandwich with egg beaters and turkey bacon). I thought that was pretty good so I'm not going to let it get to me too much, but that was about 300 calories over where I need to be. But it was right on track with my WW points. :/ Lame. Also, my little chart thing on sparkpeople says that I am not getting enough carbs. This has never EVER been a problem for me. Hrm. Toast instead of string cheese, maybe?

BTW... Those breakfast sandwiches are sooo tasty. Me and my honey could see having them as our "too bored to think of what to make" dinner all the time.

A tortilla, egg beaters, 1 slice of cheese, and 3 slices of turkey bacon is sooo yummy. And they are 374 calories or 8 points. (Er... 10 points for him because he has extra eggs and bacon)

EDIT: WHAT THE...?! Okay, so I was feeling lame, and I cheated and looked at the scale. I'm down 3lbs since Friday. Aaaawesome. I love starting over with new vigor. Maybe if I am lucky/ dedicated for a change I can keep it up long enough to get my baby making gears going. :)

Something to look forward to.

Okay, so I've already come to the conclusion that I really am *THAT* shallow and the only reason I would lose weight is so that I could buy cuter clothes and not look so skanky wearing them. BUT... I can't believe that I have actually found a haircut that I think would look so cute if I were thin and got my heart shape face back. Behold!!!

I wonder if my hair is too fine to put that many layers in?

And I want to make some cute cosplays... as Nana. I think I have decided on the red dress, but normal Nana would be fun too.

Here's a pretty good cosplay (except the hair is too long)

...I kind of want the dress anyway. :O Who wouldn't love to hit the town in that dress? (assuming that everyone in the world is absurdly eccentric like me)

Random thoughts: Aaron is brainstorming little girl baby names and that somehow makes him seem hotter. Something is wrong with me. Right now he likes Lydia Ivy and that makes his butt look ample.

Edit: I'm almost ready to make this, but I'm still second guessing it...

Another Edit: Who wants to join a fantasy football league this year?

My mom is begging me to make her a myspace.

Hrm... re-wording?

I am trying to make a bumper sticker and I want it to say something to the effect of... "If loving each other were easy it wouldn't be a Commandment" ...BUUUT that is too long. Anyone wanna help me re-word it?

I got jipped by my bumper sticker purchase like 3 months ago, so I guess that sticker is not meant to be.

What is your favorite bumper sticker?

Other ideas:
-This morning I lol'ed at "Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun." But that is way too vulgar for me to put on my car.
-If I were more into politics I was thinking about making a Paris Hilton/Tinkerbelle campaign sticker, but I'm sure I will be over it by the time it gets here.
-I'm also trying to think of funny wording for a "live life" bumper sticker, but I'm not feeling clever. Haha
-Also, just don't have the guts to buy "While you were being open-minded your brain fell out"

I am thinking I will either get "Karaoke: Ancient Japanese for tone-deaf" or "YOU! Out of the gene pool"

Oh hell no... I woke up this morning stretching and that made me pull my quad. So, as I was hobbling about the house I tripped over my bra and ripped the bottom of my foot open with the shoulder slider thing. D: I am wondering if this is a sign that I must immediately go back to bed? And if I go looking for signs, my car also started giving me the check engine light last night so I can't drive that right now either.

PS. Oh, and I forgot to mention that yesterday I also hit myslef real hard against a seat arm, so I also have a giant swollen welt on my thigh. At least that doesn't hurt. ^^;

My cousin Connie and her husband died in a motorcycle wreck last night. They left behind their 3 boys. Please, pray for them.

Tell me a secret.

Get something off your chest. The only condition is that it must be true.

Post it anonymously, if you wish..

In fair exchange, one of the comments will be my own.

I have been watching a crap-load of movies lately. I don't know why, but it is true. So, I thought I would just do a mass-posting of my ratings on them. Possibly spoilers ahoy, but I don't think so.

Dinosaurs Alive!- Your typical IMAX dinosaur movie. I wasn't sure if I had seen it before, but it is entirely possible. Although, one of their images that they used over and over was a bit of a shock to me. (http://www.dino-nakasato.org/image/special97/FightVelo-pht-l.jpg) It looks like whatever happened to these things happened in the blink of an eye. How crazy, huh?

Hellboy II
- What the... Hellboy invaded Middle Earth? I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of the first Hellboy movie, but at least it had a theme. It was about demons, right? Now all of a sudden there are a bajillion other types of creatures. Plus, their plot development failed. I could see what they were going for. But all in all I felt no attachment to any of the characters. I just ended up looking at my cell for the time when it started getting to its dramatic close.

Iron Man- Can't remember. I know I actually fell asleep in it. Plus, I just couldn't make myself want to like him after the first 2/3 of the show had him playing the jackass.

Journey to the Center of the Earth- Uhm, cute, but not a brilliant movie. It was vastly better than any other 3D I've seen. But most of those are rides at amusement parks and not full length movies so you would expect them to be cheesy. I thought it was a fun thing to watch, but as a movie, I probably won't watch it. AAAUGH! The snakehead fish!!! AUAUUGH!

Kit Kittredge- This was unexpectedly good! It had a lot of little hints in the plot that I totally didn't notice. I think it was so simple that I would never have guessed the end. Very fun little mystery.

Mamma Mia- Looooooooved it. It was some hardcore girlpower, but even Aaron liked it too. It reminded me of hanging out with my friends in P-ville and just randomly breaking into song when we coincidentally said one of the lyrics. We would sing out the full song and dance along to it just like in the movie. It seemed like this was just a large group of Abba-obsessed women with my same sense of humor and fun. I really wanted to get up and sing and dance with them. So much fun. Was there a plot? I dunno... I was too busy trying to stay in my seat.

The Dark Knight
- I know people are going to hate me for this, but... Fail. Major fail. I thought it was too graphic! I couldn't believe that there were people in the audience who had brought their kids and stayed the whole movie. Even I had to turn my head for a lot of it, because it was just too believable and I didn't want to see that. This means that the actors did an awesome job as did all the people working on the movie, BUT... I spent a good portion of the movie losing my faith in humanity. I didn't know how that could possibly be entertaining for people when such horrible stuff was happening. And it was so believable. Just yuck. I hid my face a lot during it. I couldn't even look at Harvey for the last half of the movie so that shows you how much I missed.

The Incredible Hulk
- Erm... I liked the first one much better. Of course, I was half asleep at this one because we went to the 10pm showing so I can't remember much of it. I didn't dislike it. I didn't like it. And I can't remember it at all. That says a lot, I think.

Dear Lord, I hope this is legit!

Yay for getting less junkmail! (I hope...)

PS. Does anyone know where I could go to check if it is legit? It weirds me out that they need my soc sec #, but even that makes sense.

I think it is legit because I looked up some of the companies that it listed that it worked for. They were BBB members and had the link to the opt out website on their own pages.

PPS. I made cookies today and they didn't come out right. Little did I know I used baking powder instead of baking soda. Whoops. Oh well... now they taste like cookie dough except they are cooked so no need to fear.

Just FYI

I updated my profile, and I thought it was a pretty good summary. So, enjoy!

Since the last time I updated my profile, I have graduated college with a degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. And I decided that what I actually got my degree in is nothing that I could ever enjoy doing for a living. Sorry mom and dad! So, it looks like I am going to get my certification in medical billing. Unfortunately, this is another year of school. But on a positive note, the first semester is all over the net so I can still stay home and keep up the house. I feel kind of lame about not having a job by now, but Aaron has been very supportive. He understands that it's important to me to know that whatever job I get could support the us if the need should arise. Plus, with the dwindling job market, now is the time to get more education since it's nearly impossible to get a job anyway.

Aaron is my husband. We were married in April in front of our family and very close friends. It was awesome. Everyone thought that our ceremony was really nice. The church was decorated beautifully with gold and butterflies. And the reception was the bomb! We went to The Melting Pot and had tons of different types of fondue. :9 Not to mention that we and all our attendants looked beeeautiful. I love how the pictures came out, and since I really love pictures, that's a good thing.

Our little family of pets has changed in the past year. Fannie and Marley the mice are now gone. However, we now have R2 the snail and Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Baby Bear, and Jack the new fish. R2 is with Maestro in their own little bowl. (Maestro is a beta.) And the rest are in a 50 gallon tank in the entryway to the house we are renting. It seems like every year for Valentine's Day me and Aaron get more fish. Maybe next V-Day we can get a couple of those little swimming frogs. :)

Besides that, I still spend a ton of time with my family. I take at least one major trip each month to see someone. Especially since Aaron's family live 4 hours away. It makes getting out of debt a slow process (especially with me not working) but both Aaron and I think it is important. And he can't say it's not. The next major trip we're taking is to see his friend Eric in Tampa. Which should be awesome because I am okay friends with Eric as well. Oh and that he got us passes to Busch Gardens for when we come. Yay!

Anyway, that is a glimpse into my world. I hope you liked what you saw.

PS. My hair was still too short to do anything but clean it up. *pout*

3 days since I last blogged? I have not abandoned you. Never fear, my friends. But alas, this is going to be a quicky. Since everyone who commented on how to get my hair cut said to grow my hair out I am going to get a cut that will work better for that. Unfortunately, I cannot just let it grow out because a) the last thing I got had a bajillion layers and it looks ugly now and b) I hate how I look without bangs. My forehead is HUGE. So, I think I am just going to get an angled bob with long bangs.

Also, the reason to rush this entry is because my auntie Tessie is going to pick me up at 10-ish so that I can help her make up her classroom. I guess she wants to put fabric on her bulletin boards so that they're not so drab. And I guess you're not allowed to put butcher paper on your boards now because it is a fire hazard. Whoopsies.

Anyway, besides that, I have news that Trudy looks like a rat again (she was groomed). And we got a new fish yesterday. He is a sucky fish named Jack after Jack the Ripper because the last time we got a new fish it killed everything. We're hoping this is not a replay, but just a cynic's lament.

Alright, time to get ready, because you know all those teachers and WalMart employees will be checking me out. *hair flip*

Call me Duchess

I found out last night that my dad is getting all into checking our family history. I already knew that on my mom's side we come from some of the conquistadores and their native wives and husbands. And I knew on my dad's side that one of the first protestant ministers in Italy was some great great however-many-times-great grandfather. But get this...

On both my dad's mom's side and my dad's dad's side we're related to royalty. (I come from inbreeding about 4 generations apart. Ewwww.) My grandma had told me that the reason my grandpa's grandparents had come to the US is because they were of different classes and they ran away to be married. Well, according to my dad my great great grandma was a duchess. And then on his mom's side there's no story to it, but I guess in the 1850's he traced back his mom's mom's family and they were nobility too.

Anyway, you can call me princess or duchess... whichever you like. :P Of course, now I have to get back into doing my family history and that is something I haven't done in years. My dad's fantasies cannot be trusted when I am the one who is best at tracing these things!

PS. FYI... Only one relative came through Ellis Island so far. At least on my mom's side, we were bought into America. Then on my dad's side there are very little records. Oooooh.
PPS. My grandma also likes to say that we are part of some mafia families in NJ so we shouldn't go back there lest we be caught and put to service. LOL. Riiiight.

Time for a haircut

This isn't the most flattering pic of me, but it is the most recent. So... Your mission should you choose to accept it... tell me what would look better on me. It's time for a haircut!

My present idea is to just go in and tell the stylist: "You have 2 choices. You can do whatever you want to my hair so long as you promise it will be flattering, or you can just clean up this cut." A third choice would be appreciated.

PS. It's even been almost a month since I took that so my hair is an extra inch past this.

How neat!

Just saving a link since I'm on Aaron's compy.

Jessie had talked about going to a pick your own raspberry farm last week maybe? Anyway, I was totally bummed that I couldn't find something like that around here. Well, lo and behold someone posted a better list on the cheapcooking community. There's none near where I live, but a couple close to where Aaron's folks live so we could maybe do that while we're down there. One question though... does it sound completely traumatic to have u-pick elk products?

Ask me a question about each of the following: 1. Friends 2. Sex 3. Music 4. Drugs 5. Love 6. Live Journal No matter how rude, sexual, or confidential. Then post this in your journal and see what questions you get asked.

So tired... and paranoid.

Nothing like the sound of your doorbell dying at 3 in the morning to make you paranoid and keep you up for the rest of the night. It kept on ringing every few minutes until we unplugged it. UHG.

So, while I am up, I am reading blogs. Even community blogs. :O An ongoing theme tonight seems to be people asking about if it is okay to not know. It seems really stupid to me. Of course! Is there anyone in the world besides God that knows EVERYTHING?
-I don't understand people who have so little confidence that they apologize for everything.
-I know it's no good to follow your intuition wherever the wind may blow, but that doesn't mean you have to stick it in a box and bury it.

Aaron's claiming to not be paranoid, but he won't go to bed alone. :/ I better go.

Anouncements from E3

1. XBOX360 will now have Mii's.
2. The new Wii sports will have 1:1 swordfighting
3. 360 got the new Final Fantasy game instead of PS3.

Anything else I need to know?

Women be shoppin'

Yay! Shopping was fun. Trudy needed a bed and the Disney princess fold away beds were cheaper than a doggy bed so we got her one and it is soooo cute. I told my dad and he told me I was "Going off the deep end a little." It cracked me up. And who knows... maybe I am. Lately I am becoming more and more convinced that I shouldn't be a mother and that is why my body is shutting down everything related with becoming one. Sooo... If I project my desire for pretty pink princess toys on my dog then that's okay. She likes her new bed and new toy and I get to have less goofy looking dog crap in the house.

Check this out. I saw this while shopping and totally wanted it. You know you wanted one when you were little.

Aaand we got a tent also. I'm excited. A problem Aaron and I had with camping is that I figured that if you weren't going to be able to look at the stars all night, why bother sleeping on the ground. I would prefer to just sleep in a sleeping bag on the ground. Sooo... Aaron found me a tent with a see-through roof. Aaron FTW. (Can you imagine my shock when I found out that I was the less paranoid one between the two of us? What next? He's going to stop me from getting my bike when I get a job? Oh wait... yeah.)

Besides shopping, I have good news. I finally figured out how to sign up for those certification courses. After one semester out of school, I have to go back. It makes me sick to think about it, but it's gotta happen. I hope that at least some of them are offered distance ed. Taking classes from home would be much nicer... especially since half of them are computer courses.

New shoes. Aaron got some and there was a BOGO sale. He doesn't know yet that there is ALWAYS a BOGO sale at Famous Footwear so he got me some too. Wheee! But dude... he needed shoes so badly... his shoes were black leather and they looked worn out. The suede layer is rubbed off. They were a mess. As for me, I just didn't have a pair of black, mid-high, sandals... now I do. :P

More shopping tomorrow. Yaaay! Maybe I can get a purse if I tell Aaron he needs a new wallet. >.>;;;

So, finally, my name spelled as I spell it has a meaning. I've just found out that it is a male name in Vietnam and it means "heart." So, I guess I don't have a problem with that. At least "heart" seems like something gender neutral to me.

PS. Funny ego boost...

I was walking out of the movies hand in hand with Aaron when a dude... possibly a tween held the door open for me. He smiled at me, winked, and then was praised by the guy he was with about how cool he was. Once I was far enough away I burst out laughing and this made Aaron currious. When I told him he looked seriously bugged and looked over his shoulder while yelling "Hulk SMASH!"

This is one uuuugly baby... and it has teeth!! AHG!

PS. I tried another w/o teeth... Still ugly. This is bad news!

YAY! Finally one looked kind of cute.

Make Babies with friends and celebs!

PS. He has my MOTHER'S nose.

Thought of the night: I was conceived while both of my parents were working for a uranium mine. No wonder I have these super-powers.
